Many are apprehensive when considering seeking professional help to cope with life stressors. Many times factors such as stigma, miseducation, fear, and cultural norms can be barriers to seeking help. The benefits of seeking professional treatment far outweigh the risks, and can decrease the risk of common life stressors and difficulty with adjusting to changing circumstances from developing into more serious emotional disorders. Early assessment and treatment of emotional concerns is key in minimizing and managing the often debilitating effects of untreated mental illness. Seeking help doesn't mean you're "crazy" (because you're not) and my job is not to "fix" you (because you're not broken); it means you're taking the first step on a path towards taking care of yourself and working to reach your goals!
